Formula Pete’s: Brews, Scoops and so Much More

Formula Pete’s. Sounds like the name of an auto shop, right? But it’s not. It’s a café and ice cream parlor located in the Wheels ‘n More strip. Unlike other cafés, this one is much less formal and much more like your friendly neighborhood barkada’s tambayan. The café’s bright interiors are embellished with news articles and posters that are proof of the proprietor’s love for cars. It gives an inviting and fun aura that is quite unusual for a café that takes its coffee concoctions seriously.

Yes, this Formula Pete’s (or FP as their sukis call it) offer almost unlimited coffee possibilities. There’s the espresso (pure and flavored) and brewed varieties for the hard core coffee-lovers. Then there are cafe lattes for those who opt for milder coffee. Cold coffee in the form of iced mochas and fraps are also available for those who wish to taste coffee sans the heat. For non-coffee drinkers, there’s hot tea, raspberry mint iced tea, and hot chocolate. And if these caffeine-laden drinks are present, could pastries be far behind? Of course not. Formula Pete’s best-selling pastry is their extra-buttery, melt-in-your-mouth ensaymada. They also have delectable brownies, cakes and, of course, cheesecakes.

But remember, this is not just a café but also an ice cream parlor. FP serves ice cream by the scoop and mouth-watering ice cream mixings which make will you forget the tropical heat. Their banana split and ice cream shakes are also best-sellers.

As FP is located in one of the hottest night spots in town, they also serve beer and pulutan such as sausages, calamares and sisig. For those wishing to enjoy a drink minus the alcohol, they have refreshing non-alcoholic mixed juice drinks.

FP’s menu is virtually endless, fitting whatever mood you’re in. So whether you’re looking for your coffee fix, wishing to beat the tropical heat or just want to chill with your friends with some beer and pulutan… try out Formula Pete’s.
Formula Pete’s is owned and operated by Peter Confessor. It is located at the Wheels ‘n More Drive along JP Laurel Avenue in Davao City.
