The BEST APPLE PIE
Every Christmas season, everybody receives fruitcakes. But once in a while, some of us are lucky enough to get an apple pie instead. In a tropical country such as ours, apples are expensive and apple pies even more expensive. And some apple pies are even not worth their hefty price tag.
But there's a rare find in Davao City: an apple pie that everybody approves of. It's filling is indeed apples and genuine apple sauce that's not too sweet. The filling is enclosed in a buttery flaky crust that's good even on its own.
This apple is baked in the oven of La Suerte Restaurant and Bakery. A whole pie is sold at PhP 400. La Suerte is located along CM Recto Street in the heart of downtown Davao City. To order, call 227-8131.
SOCOM: Southern Commandos Airsoft Team
Who said war is never fun??? That person must have never seen or joined the lastest craze in town: Airsoft War Games. Twice or thrice a week, a group of young men congregate to try to take out each other in a game that is guided by the “honesty system.”
Airsoft’s more popular cousin, Paint Ball, is much more easier to play. You get shot with an expensive ball of paint, and undeniably, you’re out. In airsoft, you get shot with tiny but painful pellet bullets and you declare yourself out of the game.
One group of airsoft enthusiasts have banded themselves into the Southern Commandos Airsoft Team (SOCOM). SOCOM is headed by its president, Anacleto “Logan” Capon. The Team is further divided into the Alpha, Bravo and Charlie Teams. Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, these teams battle to be declared as airsoft champs.
