Today is the first day of the Davao Convention Center's Christmas Bazaar 2005. This is the biggest annual bazaar in the city with more than 100 booths selling food stuffs, clothes, accessories, home decor and other items. Sellers are usually those who only sell in bazaars or those who do not have permanent stores. Unique gift items are aplenty. And prices range from the very cheap to more the very expensive.
The bazaar schedule for this year is as follows:

Penong’s
Penong’s is a relatively new barbeque/grilled foods restaurant in the city located along Ilustre Street (near the the PTA Grounds and Limso Hospital). But people have been flocking to it ever since it opened. The reason: unlimited rice. The food is good, but it’s the unlimited rice that really brings in the throngs. It has been successful, that it has recently opened a branch along MacArthur Highway not far from where Ateneo de Davao (Grade School & High School Campus) is. So if you want to taste fantastic grilled fare and eat as much rice with it, give Penong’s a try. ![]()
Barbie Almabis and Kitchie Nadal TOGETHER!
The Venue will feature two of the country’s most popular female musicians this coming November 18, 2005. Yes, both Barbie Almabis and Kitchie Nadal will perform at the Venue. Tickets are sold at PhP 200 and PhP 300.
The PhP 300 ticket gives you comfortable seating and a safe non-claustrophobic distance from other audience members. And probably a drink or two which may be beer, a softdrink or iced tea. Meanwhile, the PhP 200 entitles you to a drink (again, a beer, iced tea or softdrink) and maximum proximity to sweaty co-audience members which you might have to elbow to get a really good spot.
Anyhow, it’s a great show. I hope. So watch it. K?
Lachi’s
If you want to indulge your sweet tooth, Lachi's is definitely the place to go to. It is Davao's own quaint little resto.
You can start off your sumptuous Lachi's experience by choosing one of their return-trip-worthy meals such as their Unforgettable Pork Ribs,Lechon Kawali or Stuffed Chicken. The Pork Ribs is a runaway winner with the meat being so tender that it almost melts in your mouth. On the other hand, theLechon Kawali is so crispy that even those who veer away from pork fat, would be tempted to eat every piece of crunchy piece of fat which has just the right amount of saltiness. Finally, their Stuffed Chicken is practicallyCordonBleu (only much cheaper) served with a tangy pineapple sauce. They also serve adobo, tocino and grilled pork chop, among others.
